Red Spider Lilies

The red spider lily is a perennial flower that is also known as the red magic lily.  The scientific name is Lycoris radiata.

I have a good many red spider lilies in my yard.  They are beautiful flowers and last for several weeks after they bloom.  Mine have already bloomed this year and I will have to wait until next year to enjoy this floral delight again. This flower originated in China and Japan.  The flower is reproduced by the bulbs underground which duplicate as time goes on.

The  red spider lily is plentiful in both Louisiana and Mississippi.  Do you have this flower in your area?
