Love ItLove It

Random…

Random by Merriam Webster is defined as A haphazard course..

At random: without definite aim, direction, rule, or method.

That pretty well explains this set of photos. These are my quick snaps of stuff throughout last week.

The first one takes some explaining… Every morning and every evening we have one of the largest murder of crows that come by and stop in our tree to rest before going to the coast where they bed down for the night.  There are hundred of crows that fill our skies. If I go outside to take the picture, they all get spooked and fly away. So I hid in the house with the sliding glass door open, I stick my camera outside and click blind.

I do not have the answer to this question.. I counted 15.. How many crows do you see in this tree?

More crow shots.. For those who may of noticed the eyes are glowing. I did not mean to do this. I flashed the crows. No wonder they are afraid of me.. I always make sure the flash is off when shooting animals of any kind, except this time..

The next one is of a Castor Oil Plant. I just love the looks of these plants. The leaves are as big as two of my hands.

More Castor, see the new leaf in the back? They come out all red, and turn to green as the leaf ages.

The next photo is an older leaf, notice how only the veins are red now.

They grow way over head high, the next photo is taken under one, looking up at the sky.

The photo below is a great place for lunch! This is the picnic table under our favorite hamburger joint, The Pepper Tree!

When I was a kid there used to be a giant pepper tree that covered the whole parking lot and burger joint. It got blown down by one of our rare tornadoes over 20 years ago.

Since then, they have planted a row of Pepper Trees along the bank of a creek called, “Buena Creek”,  that runs beside it. This is the view, planted with white Japanese Irises, below a pretty pepper tree makes this place is a great place to eat. Plus the tables and benches are blue. My favorite color!

I noticed this iridescent feather laying on the ground. I believe it is from a Great Blue Heron.

Another feather.. I left the shadow of my finger and camera.. I don’t know why..

More feathers..

We are on our way down to the creek. Where we chose for a walk on this day. It is beside the same creek mentioned above, but about 3 miles down stream. I cannot get to the water, the under brush during the summer months just gets too thick. The coyotes have trails though…everywhere.. The dogs don’t have a problem reaching the water. Luna is on her way to the coyote trail.

I stopped to take pictures of this pretty Pussy Willow Tree.

And the fluff.. That’s what I call the the fur that these furry catkins leave behind.

One more shot.

Luna made her way back to us.. She enjoys getting the whole body wet, from head to tail.

She is such a ham!

I hope you enjoyed my random stuff.

Have a great day!

    • Thank you so much LaJenna. I have a tiny cheap camera I usually just set on automatic, then when the green box appears, I know it will be in focus. Well, most of the time.
About mine putting yours to shame, this is not true, its all about the subject with this site, and writing. Yours put mine to shame in that regard, but thank you for your appreciation. : )

  1. That Luna is such a cutie! I really like those castor oil plant leaves. I’ve grown it a few times here as an annual. The whole plant is very impressive. But I’m most intrigued by those pepper trees. For me they are the very essence of exotic 😀 😀

    • I guess they would be exotic over there Norman. That deep snow would do it in. Have you ever thought about making one a bonsai? They really look good that way. Something to ponder. You could winter it in the green house or house for that matter. Get a male if you are going to try. The males have the pretty berries, the females have long wispy flowers that kind of look like a weeping willow.

  2. Luna is such a beautiful ham. She does love the camera. These plants are amazing. I think you would be happy living in a cabin in the wilderness Kim. Great photos as always.

    • Thank you Carol. Luna is getting big but I am still hoping for more of an aussie sized dog. Those plants are amazing arent they. And yes, thats what I want. A happy little cabin, it would have to be by a stream or river of course for my seals.. or dogs,, whatever you want to call them. My dream home..
