Pygmy cormorant

Pygmy cormorant (Microcarbo pygmaeus). 

This is a bird from the Cormorant family – interesting waterfowl. 

Its plumage is black and brown, with both sexes being virtually indistinguishable. 

Body length: 50 cm. Wingspan: 85 cm. 

Cormorant inhabits the coasts of the Azov, Aral and Caspian Sea, Asia Minor and the Middle East. 

It inhabits freshwater and semi-saline ponds with abundant vegetation. 

The cormorant feeds on fish.
