This I chose as it is the easiest to grow in Auckland.
You simply take a cutting, put the end in the ground and it grows into a lovely pink bush. It mostly flowers all year round.
However, our soil where we live in beautiful volcanic soil and well drained. Some areas of Auckland have clay soil and it is harder to grow things, infact some buy top soil and create a garden from that.
I could say that New Lynn has lovely clay soil that used to be used for Auckland’s “Crown Lynn Potteries” that biggest china crockery industry in the Southern hemisphere.
Then the Unions demanded that the Crown Lynn Potteries workers got more pay rises, It got more expensive to buy pottery, and then our NZ dropped our protection for our own industries. So China has cheaper pottery and they pay their workers 2 cents an hour. So Crown Lynn Potteries went out of business.
Unfortunately, this is happening today. I worked in the rubber industry. The production was closed and we imported the products from China.
Beautiful flower pink, dear Pamela
Hmmm… I like that flower with its special pink color…
Unfortunately, it is difficult to comment on the challenge of Crown Lynn Potteries’ departure from the business because it involves a lot of things.
First, that is a very pink flower!
I suspect the economic reality of manufacturing is one that requires a lot more conversation than can be had in a comment.
Sorry that NZ lost its pottery manufacturer.
Well, the Chinese has been taking over certain industries (mainly manufacture) due to their cheap labour … but then QC wise … hmm …
Thanks so much Deepizzaguy, it is a shame, but at the same time, I forgot to mention what it was like to work for them.
My sister worked for them and did not like the way they treated people.
It is a shame that Crown Lynn Potteries went out of business because the Chinese pay their employees a cheaper salary than in New Zealand.
