Nature Tuesday – Miranda Bird Sanctuary & Kawakawa Bay

Last Sunday drove to Kawakawa Bay and further on to Miranda Bird Sanctuary. It was high tide at Kawakawa Bay so I saw the Godwits better there.’

There is a variety of very precious birds here, some are migratory birds and you need to be reasonably fit for Miranda bird Sanctuary.

You will notice some cracks even in the ponds of Miranda like the thumbnail. It is summer and the rain has not been as much as needed. You see the Pied Stilt in the Thumbnail

#1 Pied Stilt flight

They have a high pitched chirping sound
