#2 Red Poison Oak

And some boulders with Lichen on them. The poison Oak is one of the first to turn fall colors here in Southern CA.

#3 Rock hunting

We found a snail while rock hunting. It was sprinkling rain, notice the snail is wet?

#6 Petrified wood

We found some really old wood on the creek bottom. Petrified in fact. I took it home and another piece, they now have a home in my fish aquarium.

  I made an archway out of them. Now the fish can swim through. It turned very dark almost a blue when it got submerged.

#7 We also found these two pieces.

A piece of Pink Quartz, and a blue something or other. It looks like a marble, but it is some kind of rock. They went into the aquarium as well.

      But of course, that is where the fun stuff is. You should see these two, they know when we get the backpacks out and the trekking poles that they are about to have some fun. They remember every trail and every road, and start dancing in the backseat as we pass them on our way to a new one. As soon as Luna gets out of the car she runs around yipping and squeaking.

  I do need some for my garden, but the hike was too far to carry a load. So glad this day’s finds were small. But thanks for reminding me. I think I need to go comb the beach. I have some edging I could make out of them.
