Long exposure photography involves the use of a long shutter speed in order to capture the static elements at the same time as the moving elements are blurred, like stains or they become hidden. Long exposure photography captures an element that conventional photography can not: time. The bright trajectories of moving objects clearly become visible elements.
Increasing the ISO sensitivity allows for shorter exposures, but produces a substantial decrease in image quality by reducing dynamic range and increasing noise. By leaving the camera shutter open for an extended period of time, it absorbs more light, creating an exposure that captures the entire dynamic range of the digital camera or film sensor. If the camera does not stay fixed for the entire length of time the shutter is open, a very vibrant and clear picture can be produced.
