Vinicunca (Montaña de Colores – Mountain colors or Rainbow Mountain) is a mountain in Peru, 5,200 meters high. It is located in the Peruvian Andes in the region of Cusco. Different colors stimulate various minerals, and the rocks – eg. pink color is derived from sand, shale, and the like; white quartz, sandstone and other rocks rich in the calcium carbonate; red comes from ferrous minerals, and the green of phyllites rich in magnesium and iron
