Tonight the earth slams into a debris trail from an UNKNOWN comet that may spark a huge storm of shooting stars in the skies above. The dormant Alpha Monocerotid, (one-horned horse= Unicorn) meteor shower could come to life in a dramatic fashion with rates of up to 400 to 600 meteors per minute for a short time on November 21, 2019, at 11:50 pm Eastern Standard Time. This meteor outburst could potentially make this shower at least four times more severe than the peak meteor rates seen annually during the Perseid and Geminid meteor showers by at least a factor of four.
The Alpha Monocerotids, are so-named because they appear to radiate outward from the constellation Monoceros the Unicorn, rises above the northeast horizon in the late evening tonight across the Northern Hemisphere.
Sounds like a one of a kind experience may happen.
Wow, I need to grab my camera and run outside and look for it. I hope the lights here are not too much.
Interesting. I’m not sure if we can witness it from here.
Thanks for the info, would love to watch.
