Macro Monday – Striped Shieldbug

Weekly Macro Monday comes today with some photos of  Striped Shieldbug, a small insect (8-12 mm) in the family Pentatomidae. The body of this insect is almost round, with a large shield. The color of the striped shield bug is bright red on the back with black longitudinal stripes. On the abdominal segments the color is red with many black spots. Although the red and black warning colors indicate that the insect is foul smelling bug, Striped Shield Bug smells rather like apple. I took these photos in the Chindia Park area, where I find most subjects  for my macro photos. My previous post Macro Monday – Ants
