This is a part of the large falls of Linville! Believe it or not, people do sneak in and kayak down thru this chute, and on down this powerful river!! There are tube videos that show it’s entirety. This entire area is one of my favorite places in the Appalachian mountains!

Oh, I don’t kayak it, I’m too old now, and that’s for young rubber people who bounce back:), people unfortunately do die here year after year. Most from falls, and some get lost. Many areas of the gorge are eastern rock climber routes, that require the right gear and experience.
I can see why it is a favorite but be very careful!
Its lovely, and no way I would kayak that!
