Most of the mists occur when moisture evaporates from the soil, but can come from water vapor ejected by vegetation or by masses of fresh or salt water, rivers, streams, puddles, etc. As physics describes the thermal properties of gases, the higher relative temperature of an air mass rises or a gaseous mass is displaced by a colder mass and therefore heavier, the gases dilating by the heat weigh Less for the same volume, causes the rise of humid air which, upon cooling, condenses, giving rise to the formation of these low clouds.
