Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
The photo was taken at the Emily Oaks Nature Center in Skokie, Illinois.
I used a Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera with an Olympus TCON-17 tele-extender. This gives a focal length equivalent to a 714 mm lens on a 35 mm camera. I then used ACDSee Ultimate 10.4 to adjust the lighting and boost the contrast and the vibrance.

It’s in a park in Skokie, Illinois. Skokie is a suburb of Chicago that borders it on the north.
Oh ok. I’ve never been there. I’m not in the USA anymore but I spent most of my life in CA.
