We came upon this tree on our hike one day. It has many hidden stories inside of this tree. It appears to have been burned out for some reason. I think that is performed to prevent termites, but I am not an expert of anything, it is simply a wild guess. I think it is very cool that fallen trees are allowed to rot and in turn prevent erosion along the path naturally. The hiking trail is very well maintained and I would say that nothing is left unattended to by the park at all. It was a pleasure going to Cloudland Canyon and I am looking forward to returning there again many times as possible.

The rotting of the trees is the ecological fertilizer of nature. This post is great
Thank you, I got really lucky.
What a cool find.
Thank you
When I first saw this I thought it was a slide. Then when I saw it…it was a fallen tree. Amazing!
Sometimes nature gives us ideas for other things! It’s very beautiful, thank you.
Wonderful tree shot, it is now a whole ecosystem!
Thank you
