European green woodpecker (Picus viridis)

I will again boast a picture of a medium sized bird. 

The photo is of a female bird. 

From the beginning, he was hiding in some bushes and apparently looking for his favorite food – ants. 

I scared him off without a wish and he climbed that tree. 

I tried not to bother him much as he searched for food. 

He looked around for a while and apparently found some insects above the branch because he stayed there for at least another 5 min.

  1. Our woodpecker seem slightly bigger than this lime green woodpecker. But this European woodpecker is certainly unique just because of his light green color which he must use as a camouflage when in the trees… Quite the cute little bird…
