Common Problems that Occur with Boilers

Most of us don’t realise how much of a necessity our boilers are until we have to call a Gloucester Boiler Repair company to come and rescue us when we have no heating or hot water. Depending on the type of boiler you have you can find that you have issues with both or just one are of heating in your home. Boilers should be serviced annually so that you chosen company can ensure that there are no major issues or leaking of dangerous gases and also to monitor any minor issues that could, in the future, cause problems with your heating.

Here is a list of some of the most common boilers issue that occur.

Lacking of heating of hot water

This is probably the most common complaint that people call a heating specialist about. There can be a number of reasons as to why your heating or not water is no longer working and these can include a blockage in a pipe which could be a build up of matter or an airlock. Issues with the thermostat, low water pressure and issues with the valves within the boiler will all cause lack of heating and or hot water. It is particularly important if an elderly relative or young baby lives with you that you have your heating up and running as soon as possible, especially during the colder winter months.

Drips and leaks

Again a number of issues can cause this. Some of the simplest and most common include valves or washers that have perished or become damaged and are no longer functioning as they should be. Pipes and tanks may also leak if there has been a build up of rust or corrosion that has led to the integrity of the metal becoming compromised. All leaks should be looked at by a professional to ensure that it is not as a result of a larger issue with your heating system.

Frozen Pipes

This occurs around what is known as a condensate pipe and is located on condensing boiler systems. The pipe runs outside into a drain area located on the outside of your building and when the weather becomes cold you can find that these pipes freeze. Your boiler system will often display an error code if your pipe is frozen and you should follow the instructions that came with your boiler to unfreeze this pipe. You should never pour boiler water over the pipe and you can cause the pipe to crack.
