Childhood Plant Berry Wonder

“Tino tino”, as we used to call it in our dialect, is great reminiscence of our childhood days. We call it as our childhood plant berry.

It has a great influence for us as we grow up. During our time, this plant is growing abundantly. We can see them everywhere especially in the farm, along the road or in any vacant lot.

My peer group gathered around in a place where we used to meet especially late in the afternoon. When we were all present, we went together to our hangout in a vacant lot just a stone-throw away from our respective residence.

Then we headed to our playing place in the nearby rice field. We played there, running, chasing each other and when we were tired, we rested and picking up some berries of “tino tino” and made fun of them. We ate the ripe ones.

We have learned that is strange name is “Physalis Alkekengi”. You may know more of them in The Wonder of “Physalis Alkekengi” especially its medicinal attributes or benefits the users may get.

In China, they call it as Chinese Lantern berry for its figure and shape which look like a small lantern.
