Celebrity Roses – President Herbert Hoover

This lovely rose is a mix of pink, yellow and orange. It was named after the 31st U.S. President Herbert Hoover. In 1929. the lovely rose won a gold medal at the International Flower Show in New York.

The breeder of the rose was inspired by Herbert Hoover’s campaign slogan in 1928 – “a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage” and therefore, created a rose in his name. Unfortunately, this rose did not sell very well because when it went on sale the U.S. was in the midst of The Great Depression. This type of rose is a bush rose and it produces very large and fragrant blooms.
