Boreal Life Trail at the Visitor Interpretive Center

Another great trail at the Paul Smiths College’s Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) was the Boreal Forest Trail. This trail was sort of typical of the Northern woods in the Adirondacks, but had sections that ran down to the water of Barnum Brook. Here were sphagnum marshes with trees that were stunted from the poor nutrients and there were many species of wild flowers. There were wonderful wooden boardwalks that allowed you to walk over the marshes and out into the stunted tree forests there.
