Bird of the Day – The New Zealand kea

At the moment, the only chance I get to see the mischievous New Zealand Kea, is at the Auckland Zoo. As these live only in the South Island of New Zealand

They are very cheeky birds and get into a lot of trouble which is why some farmers have shot the birds, because they kill their sheep and destroy metal on motor vehicles..plus take food from Trampers back packs.

However, they are just curious native birds that are now an endangered species. I hope to go to the South Island one day..
