Bird of the Day – Day 25 – The New Zealand Fantail

These were taken today at a place in the Waikato called “Ohinewai” by the Waikato river.

This little bird was around and here are the photos. The Fantail is also known in Maori as a “Piwakawaka!”

It flies very fast, rather like a helicopter.

    • Thanks so much Jenna. I’ve always loved the fantail. sometimes they get right up close, but don’t stay for long. they are really hard to photograph. The fantail is friendly and cheeky.
