Backyard Birds in Buckland Beach

These followed other birds getting food from our back yard, they acquire by a mass of them landing on the food.

Had to chase a few outside, as they want to go into see the source of bird food.

Lovely additions to the garden, but Pukako are predators but eat vegetables as well. 

Pukakos eat small birds or fledglings. Ducklings, any baby bird or one that in unwary. 

Really glad I got cheap inexpensive pools for these to enjoy. 

These birds have to watch it, the Pukako eats unwary sparrow and feeds unwary birds to their babies. 

Pukakos also eat baby Thrushes.

Just beginning to get its adult feathers.

This was taken at winter, it is eating cheap fat. 

These often visit the garden, keeping well away from Pukakos

Sometimes visit.

They visit often at a distance.
