Do you know that we can learn or confirm many of the astronomical concepts by mere observation of the night sky? Once we start observing the night sky regularly, we can identify the prominent constellations. Then we would understand how the movement of planets differ from that of stars. By looking at the lit side of moon, we can check if the lit side is facing the sun. This would prove that the sun is lighting up the moon. Solar eclipse tells us that moon is closer to us than sun because moon comes in between earth and sun. The seasonal changes can be correlated to sun’s position on the night sky. We have peak summer when the Sun is overhead. Sky is a school where we can learn many new things every day.

I agree that the sky is an extraordinary school, unfortunately, if we live in the city, the lights around us block the clarity of the night sky and stars.
Yes Albert. Light pollution is a serious issue in cities. But you know what? I have observed many things from my terrace like spotting a comet, nova, Andromeda galaxy and many planets. Few things are possible from city skies too.
