Aldo Leopold was the author of  A Sand County Almanac. This book sold over two million copies.  He founded the Wilderness Society. It is a non-profit group established in the United States. The goal is dedicated to protecting natural areas and federal public lands in the United States.

Wilderness Areas are set aside as protected areas that are to remain pristine. Some wilderness areas allow horses, and they must be diapered. You carry every thing out and leave nothing behind. No motorized vehicles are allowed.

He quote “Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land.”
