The scene is taken from Hahei, in the Coromandel Peninsula, and there is a carpark here and a track to get to cathedral cove. I could not go to cathedral cove as it’s an hour and a half walk and my husband cant do the walk, so he would be waiting 3 hours for me.
However there is another way of getting to the cove and we will try that next time.
In the distance is the Mercury Islands.
It is an awesome scene.
