Yes, I am old, out of date, a step behind and often two or three pages behind! I know it and try to catch up a little each day. When Doc mentioned trolls what I thought of is the troll collection I had as a child. It was quite extensive. The way I earned my trolls were designed by my Mom and I hadn’t really thought of the collection for years until today when I read a comment Doc made. (Doc has a way of getting into my head.)
Anyway, any time my two evil brothers were teasing me and tormenting me and I ignored them and moved on without complaining to my Mom I would earn a troll and it would show up in unexpected places. Now if you have read what I write you know that I am NOT good at ignoring bad behavior, including my own. So I had to work hard for those trolls. (I feel the need for a musical interlude ~ hang on)
ow here’s the really cool part of the experience. When I got married I sold the troll collection and we used the money to start a bully-free project in three elementary schools. (Who knew my tormenting brothers were really changing the world?) Some times you have to look back at life to understand how important things were.
I used to love playing with troll paper dolls. My parents were Latvian immigrants and you can imagine how confusing things got for them when I began mixing Latvian and English words together
my sister had trolls!!! I think she actually still has a few.
My mom did the same thing, set up rewards for us to earn to avoid the constant fighting!
When rewards didn’t work at our house she ended it by saying “If you are going to fight you have to do it outside.” At least she didn’t have to hear it.
i don’t remember in the summer even be allowed in the house!
Thanks that made me smile. I remember my Mom sending me to walk around the block because there was no way to get lost.
we normally left around 8 am and didn’t come back until dinner. One of the houses each day was designated the lunch house!
