The grandsons showed up! Everyone knows that changes my whole world. Everything stops and it is all about listening, playing, and spending time with them. Nothing else matters. It doesn’t matter that we were just getting ready to leave. We just pretended like we were reorganizing and changed our plans.
Grandpa told them about the wish list. So one of them looked up the word wish and found this definition, “feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable; want something that cannot or probably will not happen.”
He put on his little stubborn face and said, “that is not what I would put in the dictionary. Why would they say it cannot or will not happen? We can make a lot of wishes come true if we make smart wishes!”
I am again reminded that I learn so much more from them than I could ever teach them. I have grandchildren to teach me all the truly important lessons.
The younger one said what does a thousand even look like? Grandpa went and got our giant bag of beans. They began to count.
(This is not the end of our adventure, and I am not sure if you want to hear the rest. Let me know)
I would be glad to hear how the bean-counting went.
i would love to hear the rest of the story – are they still counting beans?
Gosh I think everyone is afraid to read the post. How funny is that!
