Its climate is perfect for growing tulips, because they need a period of moderate cold. However, tulips do not come from the Netherlands. Their roots are in the mountains of Kazakhstan’s long road through Persia, China, Turkey and Belgium, through which they came to the Netherlands in 1593. First Tulips / tulips in Holland were planted in the botanical garden Hortus Botanicus in Leiden and were grown by a group of botanists.
