The national trees in Latvia include lime and oak. These trees are typical of the landscape in Latvia. Both of the trees are used for therapeutic purposes. These trees are often mentioned in Latvian folk songs.
The linden is looked upon as a female symbol and the oak as masculine. The Kaives (Sencu) dizozols or grand oak is the biggest and oldest oak in the Baltics. It is located in Tukums district in a meadow and is protected as a natural monument.
Valdemarpils Elku linda is the oldest and largest limestone in Latvia.
In the photo on top, you can see my large oak fondly called Henry. He always stood at the end of the garden in Riga Latvia guarding us all and giving us strength.
