This type of flange is ideal for low pressure and temperature applications. Threaded Flanges:

Socket-Weld Flanges:

Fillet welding is generally done from outside the pipe. Generally, socket-weld flanges are used in small bore piping and suitable for low-pressure and temperature application.

Lap Joint Flanges:

A lap flange comprises of two components- a stub end and loose backing flange. Stud end is welded to the pipe whereas the back flange helps the pipe to move freely. The backing flange is made of different material than a stub. A back flange is normally made of carbon steel to save cost. Lap flange is ideal for applications that need frequent dismantling.

Weld Neck Flanges:

Weld neck flange is widely used in process piping. Weld neck has the highest level of joint integrity as compared to any other flange. This type of flange is ideal for high pressure and temperature application. However, these flanges are bulky and costly as compared to other types of flanges.

Blind Flanges:

Blind flange is a blank disk with a bolt hole. These flanges are used for another type of flange that isolates the piping system. Blind flanges are mainly used as a manhole cover in vessels.
