“Shoes with the river Danube” – Budapest

 60 pairs of metal shoes lined promenade on the Danube near Parliament in memory of the 3,500 people who during World War II executed on the banks of the Danube. “Shoes with the river Danube” as the official name of these sculptures are actually a monument to the Hungarian Jews. They were in the winter of 1944 and 1945, shot dead on the shore of the river, or have previously had to take off his shoes.
