Saturday's Critters – Monarch Butterflies hatched

We have a problem with paper wasps, like some Auckland artists that do classical art, some Monarchs never survive for the paper wasps kill them.

Since today I have brought a wasp trap, but it will only slow them down.

The day before one male Monarch butterfly hatched and today a female hatched.

To be blunt there is no hope for anyone but the rich and wealthy to live off art work, it is impossible in New Zealand unless you are rich and wealthy with connections.

The only other way is to leave NZ and hope for recognition elsewhere, and often that happens with any of the arts, music, drama, art work because there are no opportunities here.

I have sold a few paintings and photos but you cant live as an artist here and probably would find it hard anywhere else we are a small population and few people like art.

How many paintings can you put on a wall? I am not giving up but it is reserved for a hobby that is about it. Life.

Monarchs don’t mind and are natural creatures, they enjoy being butterflies. Both have flown away and are free. The Thumbnail is a female on a cigar box that I decorated.
