This is the name of an awesome song that will either get you crying like a baby or dancing and singing along. It was originally recorded by Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters in 1963. The song also became a soul hit for both Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. My favorite version of this song is from 1970 when Janis Joplin recorded it for her album Pearl. Later on, many other artists recorded it.
In the movie “Look Who’s Talking” with Kirstie Alley and John Travolta the Janis Joplin version was used.
Janis is my favorite as well. Her smokey voice changed music. sadly she like so many in that era couldn’t shake the addictions.
