Rubedo

Rubedo is the final stage in spiritual alchemy. It means literally “reddening”, as the other two major stages mean “blackening” and “whitening”. There is one stage of rubedo, the final stage, called coagulation. The first six minor stages must be completed first, before coagulation, the spirit must be refined.

Rubedo is the completion of the Great Work, the formation of the philosopher’s stone. This is where you integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain, the male and female halves. The unification of opposites.

Rubedo can be equated with the opening of the seventh chakra called the crown chakra, which is located at the top of the head.

It is the butterfly emerging from it’s cocoon, to experience the world in a new way. Of course, few have attained this stage of spiritual development, so little is actually known about it.

Rubedo is the attainment of spiritual enlightenment.
