Rereading 1984 – Part II – 3

Winston and Julia engage in sex then leave the forest.    They walk to a different railway station than the one he used when he arrived.   She cautions him never to repeat his moves.

Julia tells them of a place they could meet in town four days from now.  The place is in a crowded area.  She kisses him and leaves.

Winston returns to his flat.

Over the coming week they met in the street without showing signs they were aware of each other.  Talking without looking at each other. It is as if forming an alliance is forbidden and what they are doing is illegal.

In this chapter it is revealed that Winston works 60 hour week, Julia even longer.  The forty hour work week is unknown.
