The Problem With Super Heroes

In Ancient Days, Super Heroes were unstoppable. Villains could try whatever they wished, but they never got anywhere. The Hero wasn’t injured, stopped, or in any way discomforted.

Even when they didn’t come from other planets or were endowed with super powers, they still were unstoppable.

There were various recurrent villains who would appear, try their thing, and by the end of the show, were bested.

Good triumphs over Evil.

That was then.

Today, Super Heroes have Super Villains who triumph. Yup. Week after week, the Villain wins.

Take Green Arrow.  Looked good the first seasons.

Strong, sensible, capable. And then…..

<a href="http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Actors:Neal_McDonough" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Source</a>

The ever Repulsive Damien Darkh steps in and can pretty much have the Arrow flat on his back, as helpless as a baby.

Take Flash.

He is not immune to all the other Mega-humans. He gets knocked down, beaten up, put in intensive care.

What kind of Super Heroes are these who can’t protect themselves?

Society has changed. The idea of Good triumphing over Evil is virtually gone with the Tooth Fairy.

Just as in real life the worst people reach the top and the best are sweep out with the trash, so too with those heroes who once gave us hope.

  1. I am of the old school super hero era when the Justice League Of America were kind and gentle to their foes and not grouchy heroes who are lamenting that due to their super hero work, they do not have a happy life. That is why I created the Lexicon Bandits who are identical twins Donna and Debi Isthmus and their student Panama Squirrel aka The History Nut.
