If there is one bittersweet moment of taking a dog for a walk in extremely cold weather in the city of Edgewood Washington, it is that anyone who walks in a snowed out area have to be careful where frozen ponds are located.
A 14 year old teenage girl and her dog were taking a walk in the area when both of them did not see a pond that was frozen. When both the teenage girl and the dog fell into the frozen pond, the girl cried for help to get her and the dog out of trouble.
A concerned eyewitness heard the cries for help from the teenager who was hanging on for dear life with a log that was in the frozen pond.
The concerned eyewitness called 911 to report the incident to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department to report the incident.
Deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene of the incident to rescue the teen and her dog by using their special equipment to free her and her dog from a possible tragic ending of freezing to death had help not arrived in time.
Both the teenager and her dog are in good condition thanks to the assistance of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the concerned citizen who made the emergency call to the authorities.
We really need to be careful when we step on frozen water. We never know how thick the ice is.
That is true since frozen water is more dangerous than walking on roads that are flooded.
That is excellence advice to heed.
I can’t even distinguish whether it is a forest or a city park, or the home environment and its surroundings.
The image looks like a forest since the story where this blog was written about did not have images of the area.
Oh, I see, Dee… Looks like I got lost in the picture. lol
I know what you mean since I cannot imagine what the area where the accident took place looks like in Washington state even I have relatives that are from that state.
It is a good idea to check several sources.
just stay on the sidewalk, how hard is that?
That is a good point you have there.
just assume all ice is thin ice and you’ll never have this problem
That is true since better to be safe than sorry.
if you don’t know if something isn’t there, just assume it is and be real careful. you’ll live longer
Looks like a winter wonderland for sure. We have not had any snow like this.
Did you see the story last week both the frozen cat? Amazing how they survive.
I did read the story of the frozen cat that was saved on one of the news sites.
there was a dog in a similar situation who was revived almost an hour after death, so extreme cold can lower metabolic rates to a state similar to suspended animation…
I did not know that for a fact.
I don’t know it for a fact either, but I’ve heard about it from several different sources…
In South Louisiana, it seldom snows which is kind of odd.
