Odeillo solar furnace … France
In the French town of Odile (Odeillo), located in the Pyrenees near the border with Spain, is the largest solar furnace in the world. The largest solar furnace was built in 1969 and is one of the most important scientific and research facilities in Europe. Odeillo furnace is 54 meters high and 48 meters wide. The reason why is not there is because Odilo has the highest amount of sunlight during the year (more than 2500 hours per year), thanks to the altitude (1.312 to 2.212 m), the air is generally clean and the humidity is low.
