Lightning Katatumbo

Lightning Katatumbo is a unique natural phenomenon on our planet. It occurs strictly in the region above the mouth of the river Katatumbo in Lake Maracaibo (western Venezuela). Above this relatively small surface of the water a strong lightning strike 5 km high in water amazing frequency of – 140 to 160 during the nights per year, 10 hours per day up to 280 times per hour.
