Love ItLove It

Just bloggin’

While I write this, I am just short of an hour from starting my day which begins once I have completed reading my book titled ‘Between the world and me’ by Ta-Nehisi Coates, plus reading a verse and my Bible. I finally found my niche on when my mind is clear to read, and love it. The mornings work well for me because I have not planned my day yet, let alone got out of bed. I should be completed with this book by June, which I will share pieces of it once I’m done.

Lately if you been following my writings I have mentioned the movie ‘Wonder Woman’ a few times, which I finally saw and totally enjoyed it. Wonder Woman is a great movie that I highly recommend because it empowers women no matter what ethnic background they come from, which is a huge plus in my book. In this world we live in its well needed, and what better way to promote it by putting it in something that we are all interested in.

As of today I’am officially registered for fall semester, which is my internship for mental health counseling. I’m slightly nervous, but very excited because this is it! I’m almost done with my first degree, but most of those jitters come from the fear of not knowing what to expect while dealing with mental health clients, so any encouragement from you all is definitely appreciated.

I have also come to the realization that I will have to worry about my own health versus caring for the health of others. In between working two jobs; trying to volunteer when I get the chance, and having two classes to worry about this fall semester I will have to make time for myself if you know what I mean. We all need time to our self to medicate as well as do the things we love to re-energize for the next day, which is what I will have to consider this fall. With that being said, I leave you all with this quote by Karl Lagerfeld “Don’t sacrifice yourself too much, because if you sacrifice too much there’s nothing else you can give and nobody will care for you.”

  1. You are right in so many points. First, women need to assert their roles in this male-dominated world. Secondly, we have also to take care of ourselves, love ourselves and treat ourselves. I can quite say I have reached an area I have sacrificed myself till I feel totally drained. Need to make that change.

  2. As of right now I’m a Direct Support Professional, working with adults with disabilities, but outside of that I’m going to school to be a mental health counselor.

  3. I feel it was meant for me to read the quote from this post. I have been known for putting myself last and putting others first. This is almost always, and I can get feeling too drained, so now I know I must change that. This is a wake-up call for me. Thank you!
