It was thirteen years ago about this time. Our friends were having major flooding and their home and shop were in danger of floating down the river. We had spent day there working with heavy equipment, building dikes and doing what we could to direct the water. We agreed to spend the night there in case things got worse in the middle of the night.
Things got worse and I went down stairs, but on my shoes and went out with flashlights to get to work. About seven hours later we can into the house and were really able to look at each other. I was wearing one of my shoes and one of someones else’s shows. Between the four us we were all mixed up and hadn’t figured it out. It made us smile.
We always take of our shoes at their house, and now she bags them because she knows that her husband and I wear the same size shoes. It was a good time to laugh through a challenging time.
