I have just taken delivery of my latest camera lens – a 30mm f3.5 macro – to join my Olympus set. I intend to use this to take close-ups of butterflies, but they are in very short supply at present, so a UK five pence coin (the smallest in size that is in circulation) will have to stand in as my first macro attempt!
Good luck with your macro shots. We will have butterflies in the spring and summer in a few months.
I have not done any macros so far. Prefer their normal size.
It sounds as though a hibernating butterfly woke up too soon!
The current UK coinage from 1p to 50p displays the Royal Shield, with each coin showing part of the shield. You can see the whole shield if you put the coins together in the right order! The 5p forms the centre of the design, so you have got part of the English three lions, the Scottish lion passant and the Irish harp.
Well, to my surprise there was a butterfly fluttering inside the south-facing window of my bedroom this morning. It clearly wanted to get out, but those negative temperatures would have brought its life to sudden halt, so it’s still up there 🙂 Nice 5p – I don’t think I’ve seen that design, but it’s a few years since I visited the UK.
