Catching Karma – 20

For four weeks Marie lived a free and hedonistic life. The only person she needed to worry about was herself.

For the first time in over thirty years Marie could be fully focused on herself, on what she liked and wanted.

Then, it was time.

Marie reluctantly left the hotel at nine a.m., went to the airport, boarded the plane, and flew home. She noticed others on the  plane grabbing up their phones, went to turn on her’s, realised the battery had died. It didn’t matter.

When the plane landed, she cleared customs, caught a cab, reached her Condo. She put down her bags, opened the windows, plugged in the phone, then went out to do a bit of  shopping. She called the garage from the supermarket and she could pick up her car in two hours.

She returned to the Condo with the essentials she had bought, did a bit of unpacking, then checked her phone. There were endless calls and messages she had missed.

Marie decided she was not going to deal with anything right now, so shut off her phone. She took the long walk to the garage, got her car, drove it home, stopping to pick up some takeaways.

At home she spent the remainder of the day, getting back into her life.
