An alert neighbor rescues three people from a house fire

Don Kritzky is being credited as a good neighbor that cares for the welfare of people in his neighborhood when he first called the St. Paul Park Fire Department to report a fire that started across the street from his residence.

Before the local firefighters could arrive at the scene of the fire in St. Paul Park on Tuesday afternoon, Don decided to do his part to assist the three persons who were inside the burning home after his wife Linda advised her husband who was working in his garage that the house across the street was in flames.

Don with the help of a neighbor were able to get a woman, a man who were slumped on the floor of their home due to smoke inhalation that forced them to pass out in the back door of their home.

After the man and the woman were evacuated from the burning home, Don ran to the front of the burning home to find a second man slumped on the ground when the smoke overcame him from the fire in the home while he was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose.

Don who is a race car super fan was scared out of his wits when the house fire was consuming an auto that he feared would explode from the huge flames was able to get the third person out of harm’s way before the St. Paul Park Fire Department were able to put out the flames.

The three fire victims were taken to a local hospital by the Woodbury paramedics to be treated for smoke inhalation which according to statistics is the leading cause of deaths in fire related disasters.

The rule of thumb is that even though the firefighters are trained to evacuate fire victims since they are trained to so such work, if a bystander can assist them before they arrive to the scene, then they have the green light on a basis of caution.
