"African Pompeii"

“African Pompeii”: Archaeologists unearthed an ancient city – Eritrea swam under layers of sand after 14 centuries, the lost city of Adulis. Finally came to light and will become the first national archaeological park sub-Saharan Africa. Archaeologists slowly through layers of mud, sand and bushes excavated city walls of the city, which extends over an area of about 40 hectares, entirely built of stone in almost perfect condition. So far excavated only one percent of the ancient city, located on the southwest coast of Eritrea across the Red Sea.
