A barbershop in Ohio teaches children reading skills

Nick Baynes who goes by the moniker “Nic Da Barber” who runs a barber shop in the Cincinnati Ohio neighborhood called West End (not to be confused with the neighborhood of the same name in the New Orleans region) is one of the best gifts that the students who attend schools in the neighborhood since he has these rules for his customers to learn how to use reading skills that will be useful for them when they become adults in the future.

Nick and his barbershop crew have this program where books are supplied to the children to read out loud to him and his crew before they get a haircut.

The incentives are that any child who attend school in the West End neighborhood are if the students get A’s in school on their report cards, he will pay them a small amount of money as his way of rewarding them for a job well done working on their reading skills in schools.

What really impresses me about Nick Da Barber is that he is giving back to his community without much fanfare from the national news media since Nick and his team of barbers want to be role models for the children in his neighborhood which is one way to gain customers to his barbershop to not only get a great haircut but also learn reading and learning how to behave like gentlemen and ladies during the remainder of their lives.
