How Well Do You Know Your Emotions?

Well, oh well. Very well.

I’m kind of interested in learning my different types of emotions; how to use them properly; when do they make me feel them; and why do they automatically makes me feel them.

So, what I did is research books about emotions. And I’d like to share them with you too.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Emotions are feelings; they could be happy feelings or stressful feelings of anger, shame, fear and far worst is pain.

They are fuels to our day to day life.

We have control over them; otherwise, you will make bad decisions based on false emotions.

It is not advisable therefore to decide based on emotions, specially in business; because emotions are following patterns of our minds and thoughts or relative to a specific thought or event or situations; and besides, it’s not accurate; it can even be playful.

Like for example:

Worrying that you will be fired at work even if there is no really reason for the company to fire you anyway, and you know that; but you just worry because you’ve been fired in the past.

Or maybe feeling afraid of not succeeding in business, because you are a newbie; but actually, not all newbies failed at first try, some of them have succeeded as well.

Or maybe doubting that you won’t be able to get the job you have applied for, because you were rejected by last company you have applied for.

Emotions are not reliable.

If I make my emotion the basis of my decision making, I wouldn’t be able to find a job; because then I’d be afraid to be rejected again. Instead, I recognized them as a mere shadow of the past.

Emotional pattern can be restructured.

If you’ve heard about mindfulness, positive affirmation, and meditation; those helped me follow my goal. Once you take another more step towards that goal, you will learn to relax and dictate the emotions you would like to feel while you’re on your way to success. And then, it will become a new pattern.

Emotions is a mere experience.

I thought at first that I am anger. I am that anger that feel; but, someone told me, “You are not anger, you are experiencing anger, you are only observing anger.” And I believed in him, like badly.

Same with fear. If we’ll let our fear control our actions, we will never reach our dreams.

And lastly, he said ” You know what, your problem is not yourself, it’s your emotion.” Unless we learn to accept that our problem is emotional, we will never be able to move forward.

Thank you… 🙂
