Irma had taken the job of Manager, not realising how much work needed to be done. She didn’t know the premises had been neglected for a decade.
It was neglected because the Manager who preceded her couldn’t deal with the stress. Couldn’t deal with constant complaints, infestations of bugs and rats, and having to call the Owner for every little thing.
Having gone through the humiliation of an attempted eviction of one of the most obnoxious tenants, where it felt as she was the one on trial, the previous manager swore she would never ever try again.
She retired to her flat and stayed away from the tenants, ignored the premises.
Only when contacted by the owner would the Manager mention a problem.
