To Be Happy Is Your Choice

In the age we are living, no individual can say he/she is always happy. It is a state of feeling we don’t always enjoy every single minute. It is short-lived thus forcing some of us to give up hope of ever being happy for the rest of our lives. We can be joyful but not always happy. Without happiness, our lives are meaningless.

With so many things happening in our lives, both good and bad ones it seems we don’t have control of our lives. It appears someone, or something, is controlling how we should live. However, is that case? Well, it is a subject to delve on its own but one thing for sure is that we are the masters of our happiness. We can decide to be happy or not.

The things that occur to us which are not good – external factors – shouldn’t dictate whether we should be happy or not. We might face obstacles, challenges, difficulties, disappointments, discouragement but they should not determine or control the level of our happiness.

It is not easy to be happy in a stressful situation or in an unpleasant circumstance. Nonetheless, we cannot allow each and everything that is negative in our lives to control our happiness. We can be joyful and at the same time happy.

In the midst of stress, we can feel happy even if things around us are screaming at us, throwing fists and kicks at us. We will be faced with days we don’t want to feel happy but let not that situation steal your happiness for a lengthy period. Feel the sadness, anger, disappointment, discouragement, shame, humiliation and so on but not for long. In such a state, you won’t be able to move on. You will not accomplish a lot, you won’t feel the need to push on and you might lose any hope of ever being happy. You will wish you’re better dead than alive. As long as you are alive, you should enjoy every bit of it even in unpleasant situations.

Remember, happiness doesn’t come from outside e.g. engaging in a relationship or working in a profitable company. It comes from within you. Thus, you’re the master of your happiness. You’re the one to decide whether to be happy or not.
