Quote Challenge Day 1: Life, Time and the Future

I feel extremely honored to have been nominated to take part in the three day Quote Challenge by my Pixie friend. We met on Niume last year and I cannot wait for my travels to start as one of my first trips will be to go and meet this exciting lady. While we have the same point of view on various, she has opened my eyes and gave me a new perspective. Especially on the subject of Love, I remember one of her posts where she explained that one cannot depend on another person to complete yourself. You have to be happy and ‘in love’ with yourself before you can make someone else happy. Her poetry is something else that can only be appreciated. You can read more on her blog. Also read her Day 1 on the Quote Challenge as I was once again deeply touched by it.

Now, back to the challenge. Life, Time and the Future for the topic of Day 1.

Soren Kierkegaard was a 19th-century Danish philosopher and also called “Father of Existentialism”. His philosophy also influenced the development of existential psychology, in other words a philosophical method of therapy that operates on the belief that inner conflict within a person is due to that individual’s confrontation with the givens of existence.

‘Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced’. This is my favourite quote of all times. Often we hear people say, Life is so unfair, my life is so hard, and so on and so forth. People, come on! Wake up!

Life is a gift from above, yes, at times circumstances makes it a bit difficult. You just have to deal with it and keep on walking on your journey. At least you are still breathing and I promise it will get better again after the storm has passed. It does not help to become negative, negative thoughts attract negative actions. Rather deal with the problems with a smile on your face and move on, naturally you will have a feeling of accomplishment.

Harvey Mackay is a business man who was born in 1932. He is an inspiration to all young aspiring writers like myself and has authored seven New York Times bestselling books including Swim with the Sharks without Being Eaten Alive with over 5 million copies sold.

‘Time is free but it’s priceless’. Often we take time for granted, wasting it by procrastinating. Why not use it by forming new memories that can carry you through the rest of your life?

‘You can’t own it but you can use it’. Use the time that is borrowed to you and do something constructive, while you still can.

‘You can’t keep it but you can spend it’. Spend time with your loved ones, while you still can. Spend time to build yourself up, rather than wasting a second in self-doubt.

‘Once you’ve lost it you can never get back.’ Do I even need to say more on that closing statement?

Sean Patrick Flanery was born in 1965 and is an American actor, author and martial artist. His most famous role was probably as Connor MacManus in The Boondock Saints. If you look at the success he achieved it is evident that he did not waste any time in pursuing his dreams.

‘Do something today that Your Future Self will thank you for’. I absolutely love this quote, every morning we wake up is another gift added to our time on earth. Life is not guaranteed and we don’t know how long we will still be here. I made it a habit to at least once a day, do something for my own self-development. Whether it is to research a new product for my business or to write a new chapter for my book or to just pen down some ideas for my next blog post. At the end of my life I will look back and actually see the impact that small gesture had on my life.

And now for the three writers that I nominate to carry on the Quote challenge.

First up is Albert Herdianto Widjojo. This special man is very close to my heart although I have not known him very long. We immediately felt a deep connection as both of us is quite philosophical and definitely on the same wavelength. His poetry is absolutely beautiful and he does his own digital artwork to fit the theme he is writing about. I see Albert as an inspiration and mentor. You can read his work here.

Second up is Halcombe Norilsk. I met Halcombe when I was part of the Niume community. He is our fashion and modelling expert. Halcombe is the one who will tell you where to get the most glorious clothes and he is the one that will keep you updated of what is going on in the fashion world. His book The Adventures of Halcombe Norilsk and other gripping tales is being featured in the New York Times. It is thanks to Halcombe that I am actively working on my first novel. I published a short story on Niume a while ago and his response was so positive, he wanted to know more. So thank you, Halcombe, for the motivation. And lastly, I nominate Rex Trulove.  I also met Rex on Niume and was very glad to see that he is also posting on Virily since Niume closed. Every time I read one of his posts I learn something new.  For examble the true meaning of Good-bye which was published sometime last week.  He also writes the most interesting quizzes. To read some more of his interesting facts follow this link.

I cannot wait to see what you all come up with, and have fun.

  3. Hi Della, this is an interesting and amazing blog. One of the most interesting things to me about this post is your reason for choosing quotes, I am sure it must be your own character and attitude, and I am amazed at it. Another thing, I just realized that we were together at Niumi, also Halcombe Norilsk and Rex Trulove. Thanks for that, and also for nominating me. All the best!!!
